In 2016, The Charger and Rams had to move out of their respective cities and look for new home grounds in Los Angeles. This decision was made due to major issues between the team and the cities of San Diego and St. Louis. So the teams quickly arrived in California with no stadiums to move into and had to wait for the complete construction of SoFi Stadium.

History
During the four-year construction period, the Rams completed the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. While the Chargers had no choice but to compete in the Dignity Health Sports Park that had plenty of seating and structural issues. However it is fair to say that the wait was worth it since the new shared home of both teams, the SoFi Stadium, was completed in September 2020. The name SoFi comes from Social Finance Inc. who purchased the naming rights for 20 years with a whopping price of $400 million.
Located in Inglewood, Calif. The construction cost of the new home ground surpassed the $5 billion mark. For the NFL games, the sitting capacity of the stadium is 70,000 fans. But it is said that for other events like concerts, the SoFi Stadium can accommodate around 100,000 people.
The stadium is surely an engineering masterpiece since it has plenty of standout features that sets it apart from others. The stadium hosts 5G high-speed internet for the fans and a 70,000 square feet video scoreboard. The main structure of the stadium is surrounded by plazas and holds plenty of retail space which shows that the design meets the standards of a multi-billion dollar facility. The American Society of Civil Engineers awarded it the title of the “Outstanding Architectural Engineering Project” of 2021. While the StadiumDB’s Jury awarded SoFi with the title of the “Stadium of the Year”.
There is official news that the home ground of the Rams and the Chargers will host the 2022 Super Bowl and 2023 College Football Playoff championship game. There is plenty of speculation that SoFi will also host the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2028 Summer Olympic Games. And it is poised to host plenty of matches for the 2026 World Cup.
There is no doubt that SoFi is one of the best venues of the NFL at the moment and is destined to make plenty of history in the NFL and other areas of professional sports.
